History: His wiki page is here, though it would probably be better if I tried to do a quick summary of things here for anyone unfamiliar with the Mass Effect universe. Spoilers for the first game and very early second lie ahead.

Let’s set the scene a little, shall we? It’s mid-22nd century, and humanity is a fresh new addition to the galactic community. They join numerous other space-faring races that had discovered mass effect technology from the ruins of another long-dead civilization, granting them the ability to use previously dormant mass relays to travel incredible distances in the blink of an eye. The galactic community as a whole is centered around the Citadel, an enormous space station housing embassies from each race, as well as the ruling body of the council. The Council has its own force of special operatives known as Spectres, who operate with the goal of preserving galactic peace and little-to-no regulations on how they choose to do so.
Among the citadel races are the turians, a militaristic and community-oriented civilization from the homeworld of Palaven. Now Garrus, like most turians, began his military training at the age of 15. At the end of his time with the military, he was among the numerous young recruits in the running for Spectre training. However, his father, a very by-the-book officer with the Citadel’s police force, pulled him from the running due to his dislike of the Spectres’ extralegal status and freedoms.
So instead, Garrus followed in his father’s footsteps and became an officer at C-Sec. As an investigator at the Citadel, he begins his work as an idealistic young cop ready to make a difference and bring justice to criminals on the station. And while he enjoys it, he quickly learns that catching the bad guys isn’t as cut and dry as he’d imagined. Bureaucracy, red tape, and loopholes in the law mean that there are plenty of ways for criminals to get away scot-free. Pretty soon our turian cop is a little less idealistic and a lot more frustrated with the system, but he sticks with it.
One day, Garrus finds himself assigned to a very high profile case. One of the Council’s top Spectres, a turian by the name of Saren Arterius, had been accused by the human embassy of going rogue and attacking the human colony on Eden Prime. Garrus eagerly leaps into the investigation, but finds himself blocked at nearly every turn. Saren’s Spectre status makes his files nearly untouchable. Without any solid evidence, the case was closed, despite Garrus’s insistence that he still had one lead and only needed a little more time. So he decides to take things into his own hands, continuing the investigation on his own time.
During his search, he crosses paths with Commander Shepard of the human Systems Alliance military, who had recently been inducted as the first human Spectre. Shepard had heard of Garrus’s investigation into Saren and, looking into the same thing, had decided to seek him out. Garrus reveals to the Commander that he plans on leaving C-Sec in order to continue following the leads on Saren’s case without the nightmare of regulations holding him back. Shepard invites him to join their crew in order to bring Saren down, and he eagerly accepts.
Eventually their hunt for Saren reveals that the rogue Spectre had discovered a member of an ancient machine race known as Reapers, resembling gigantic starships in appearance. The Reapers, it seems, would lay dormant in dark space for fifty thousand year stretches before returning and wiping out any sufficiently advanced organic life they found. Upon learning this, Saren thought their only chance of survival would be allying with and submitting to the Reapers. Unfortunately for him, contact with the Reapers induces a subtle brainwashing effect known as indoctrination, and he became little more than a pawn for the active Reaper.
The conflict came to a head when Saren’s forces, along with the Reaper known as Sovereign, launched an attack on the Citadel in order to send a signal to the dormant Reaper forces and usher in the next cycle of destruction. Garrus aids Shepard’s team in taking down Saren, while the Systems Alliance ships manage to squeeze out a victory against the enormous Sovereign. With the Reaper threat thwarted for now, the Council downplays the involvement of the machines as nothing more than a rumor, claiming the attack was solely the work of Saren and his allies.
At this point, Garrus parts ways with Shepard, newly inspired to reapply for Spectre training. His disgust with the Council’s bureaucracy grows to extreme levels within the next year or so and he eventually reaches his breaking point and abandons his Spectre training altogether. He leaves Citadel-governed space and makes his way to Omega, the seedy heart of the Terminus Systems, out of the reach of Council law.
The Omega station is a haven for criminal activity, and Garrus takes it upon himself to become a force of justice. He operates by his own rules, no longer hindered by laws or regulations when it comes to doling out punishment to those he deems wicked. The freedom awakens a rather brutal side to him, and he’ll often go out of his way to deal ironic deaths to his enemies—notable deaths include killing a weapons smuggler with his own smuggled weapon and tinkering with a saboteur’s environmental suit so that he suffocated to death. The locals eventually bestow upon him the name of Archangel for all the work he’d managed against Omega’s criminal empires. He is essentially Space-Batman (or well, Space-Punisher, considering his brutality).
Inspired by Shepard’s leadership in the past, Garrus had built up his own team for fighting crime on Omega, becoming quite a menace to the criminal and mercenary groups operating out of the station. And then rather unexpectedly, one of Garrus’s men, Sidonis, turns on them. Sidonis had sold them out to a group of mercenaries and he had distracted Garrus while the rest of the team wandered into a trap. None had survived the attack, and the traitor had fled before Garrus could get a hold of him.
So Archangel found himself alone on Omega with nothing but the guilt and anger from his team’s demise to keep him company. After drawing the ire of the three largest mercenary groups on Omega, he wouldn’t be able to continue working alone there for long. When the warehouse he had been using as a base of operations was found, the merc groups brokered a brief alliance to take him out. Garrus was prepared for their attack, however, collapsing roads and tunnels that made their way into his base until there was only one way in or out. The open bridge that led to the warehouse made sitting ducks out of any mercenary foolish enough to try to cross it. The vigilante had the perfect view, and his rifle made short work of anyone trying to get him. But the mercs were preparing to launch a large scale attack, and Garrus was only one man. He could only last so long on his own.
It’s at this point in canon that Shepard’s team soon arrives to bail him out of this mess. This time, it seems a pair of discs has found its way into his hideout…

Personality: Garrus is a pleasant and amiable man with a wry and often self-deprecating sense of humor. He tends to get along well with those he works with, and is exceedingly loyal to those he comes to trust. Having plenty opportunities to work with a multi-species team, Garrus has developed a rather open mind when it comes to the galaxy and its wealth of cultures.
His view of the universe is admittedly very black and white. You’re either on the side of the just and good or you’re an enemy. He believes in doing the right thing, whatever it takes. This worldview was apparent in the enthusiasm he had for his job as an officer at C-Sec, eagerly working to solve crimes or catch criminals. But at the same time, it hindered him. With such a strict sense of right and wrong, he had little patience for any rules and regulations that would get in the way of him doing his job. Nothing angered him more than seeing a suspect walk free while his hands were tied by some loophole in the laws. His distaste for all the red tape really displayed itself in the arguments he got into with the higher-ups as an investigator.
Despite the hang-ups he’s had with authority figures in the past, Garrus himself makes a remarkably good leader, when given the chance. His team on Omega was efficient and worked well together, and with the glaring exception of the traitor Sidonis, his trust was well placed.
The once idealistic young cop has become much more jaded after all these years. Part of him is still determined that he can make a difference in the world, the part that spurred his actions as Archangel. But the realist in him reluctantly admits that for all the trouble he’s stirred up, Omega is just as corrupt as ever.
For all his friendly and jocular attitude, Garrus is a man that’s filled with a surprising amount of anger. Years of seeing criminals take advantage of the system has slowly but surely taken it’s toll on him. His anger has reached a peak level after the betrayal of Sidonis and the deaths of his team members, though much of it is internalized and turned into smoldering guilt. Due to all of this, he’s a lot more willing to resolve things with violence than he used to be.

Abilities & physical limitations: Garrus is an expert marksman, especially when it comes to long range weapons. His military and law enforcement background has given him plenty of discipline and training in the use of various firearms. He’s also had plenty of experience in hacking and decryption, but he is by no means an expert. His turian biology presents a bit of a limitation while here; they’re based on dextro-amino acids, rather than the levo-amino acid systems of humans (and presumably trolls). Essentially, if he eats any of their food, it could result in a pretty severe allergic reaction from him. Needless to say, he’ll be providing his own food.
Appearance: Here is a picture of Garrus and for reference, an unarmored turian.
Notable AU differences from canon, if applicable: n/a

Strife Specibus: Riflekind
Prototyping: An action figure of the movie character Blasto, the first hanar Spectre. Underlings may have tentacles or glow like a big, stupid jellyfish. (This choice... may be subject to change, haha)
Title: Sentinel of Stars
In-game abilities: Sentinel is an active class, though it presents itself in a more subdued way than one would expect. It is a protective class, manifesting its aspect in an offensive manner to defend others, but with the limitation that it is only available for use when it is needed. The Sentinel’s powers lie dormant, standing vigilant until the right moment. A challenge for Garrus while in the game will be to hone his patience and learn to use his offensive skills solely for the protection of himself and others, rather than outright violence towards those he deems evil.

The aspect of Stars, when controlled by an active class, mimics one particular feature of the celestial bodies on a small, personal scale: the supernova. Essentially, an active Hero of Stars is a hero of explosions. The produced explosions grow in size, strength, and range as the hero climbs the echeladder and becomes more proficient in its use. Typically, in the beginning, they are small and hard to direct. The Hero of Stars is required to channel the explosions through a medium of some kind, such as a staff, or in Garrus’s case, his rifle. God tier powers would likely grant the ability to create explosions at will, without the aid of a conduit.

Planet: The Land of Vines and Clamor is a jungle planet, filled to the brim with lush greenery. The consorts, lively and vocal toucans, are tasked with singing songs to bring in the rainstorms that the planet needs to thrive. However, with the awakening of the giant lizard, Lacerta, whole sections of the jungle are going quiet and as a result, the planet is threatened with a terrible drought.

-- archangelsWrath [AW] opened a new memo on board Let's talk firepower --

AW: Well this is certainly a lively gathering I've been pulled into.
AW: And while I'm sure you're all very interesting to get to know, I have a much more important question to pose.
AW: What are we all packing in terms of firepower?
AW: There's talk of some sort of end bosses in some of these memos.
AW: These "Denizens."
AW: I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume they won't be going down easy.
AW: Well, when they meet the business end of my rifle, they won't know what hit 'em.

PC: Its a bit of a mix. Some were fighters before they got here and others are just learning.
PC: Though training sessions were set up recently. So hopefully thatll balance things out faster.
PC: Personally i use gunkind and magic that allows me quite the punch when needed.
PC: But no clue yet about my game abilities.

AW: Well then, there's hope for us yet.
AW: Can't say I'm a stranger to dangerous situations.

AW: Now, guns I'm used to.
AW: Magic, not so much.
AW: Are we talking biotics here?
AW: Good old mind powers?

PC: We do have some psychics but i meant magic.
PC: Mines good for making firearms of various sizes and firepower. And for healing or barriers.
PC: I can do some other things but that covers the big points.
PC: What about your own abilities?

PC: Oh! And im jake english. We can save more of an intro for anther time.
PC: But at least exchanging names feels proper.

AW: Making firearms? And healing and defense?
AW: Sounds like quite the handy skill.
AW: And a bit unbelievable.
AW: But considering where I am, and what's going on, I should probably hold my tongue.

AW: As for my abilities? Much more mundane.
AW: Turians don't exactly have a high rate of biotics users, and I'm certainly not one of them.
AW: I deal more in strategics and assault.
AW: Get a rifle in my hands, and there's few that can hide from my scope for long.

AW: Well then, Jake. I prefer to just go by Archangel, if that's alright with you.

PC: If nothing else this game shows you that lifes bigger then you thought it was.
PC: For example i havent heard of turians. But were up to six or so species.
PC: Im human if that means anything to you.

PC: Sniper then! Always happy to see another gunner.
PC: More a pistol man myself but id still love to compare guns.

PC: Archangel it is then. Thats a pretty cool name.

AW: I'm used to a big gathering of species.
AW: Humans included.
AW: And since you don't know turians, I'm guessing that makes you pre-citadel space.
AW: Interesting.

AW: We could have ourselves quite the little gun show, then.
AW: Might even be fun.
AW: Maybe you could even show off some of that magic of yours.

AW: Thanks. It's... become sort of a work name, I suppose.

PC: Unless were not from the same timeline! Which so far ive yet to meet any blokes who know the same earth i do.
PC: And if its something to do with space we just had our first moon colonies moved in a few years ago. Very exciting times and plenty more to come if we do meet other species.
PC: Though we do have one alien race the incubators right now.

PC: Just name the time and place and consider it planned.
PC: I have to admit im also curious about meeting face to face.

AW: If you guys are only just settling on Luna, then yes, you still have a bit to go.
AW: Can't say I'm familiar with Incubators, however.
AW: Different timelines are seeming more likely.
AW: Huh, never thought that would be something I'd have to seriously consider.
AW: Isn't this place just full of surprises.

AW: Any time, any place works for me.
AW: It's not like I have much keeping me occupied aside from using the enemies here for target practice.
AW: And right, the face to face thing.
AW: Been quite a while since I'd last run into a human who hadn't yet met a turian in the flesh.
AW: Hope I don't scare you off.

PC: At least the dragon is friendly and not the people eating sort.

PC: And no need to worry! Im not the sort for the vapors.
PC: Plus i doubt youll scare me off regardless.
PC: Ive not exactly been short on shocking appearances even before the game.
PC: Not that im assuming your shocking!! Or anything like that.
PC: Just um. Trying to say ive run into my fair share of things outside what people are used to.

AW: ...Good to hear.
AW: My favorite kind of creature is the not people eating kind.

AW: Sounds like you must've led an interesting life.
AW: Even before all of this.

PC: It was at least fun. I hunted Witches for a living.
PC: These types of destructive spirits that come in all sorts of shapes.
PC: Though im sure you could say much the same about exciting lives!
PC: Ever been to space yourself? Or any stories youd be willing to share.

AW: Destructive spirits, huh?
AW: I'm sure that magic of yours must have come in handy for that sort of career choice.

AW: Space travel is a common thing both where and... when I'm from.
AW: And in my line of work, too.
AW: You can say that I "take out the trash" in one particularly nasty part of space.

PC: The whole reason i have it!
PC: Though i get plenty of other uses here.

PC: Ah! A bounty hunter then.
PC: That sounds like an important job and one sure to keep things lively.

AW: Well, I'm very interested in seeing it in action.
AW: So is this magic something you're born into?
AW: Or is it acquirable by some other means?

AW: Oh, it's definitely lively.
AW: Never a dull moment around here.
AW: Though it's... less about bounty and more about the satisfaction of making sure these criminals never get the chance to hurt people again.
